YOU, MY LOVE
Words and music by Lachlan Irvine
[G][D][C][G] [C][G][D][D7] [G][D][C][G] [C][D7][G]/
[G] I know you've [D] seen some [C] troubled [G] times,
Your [C] heart's been [G] shattered be-[D]-fore; [D7]
And [G] now you [D] just can't [C] let your-[G]-self [C] trust in [D7] love once [G] more.
But [G] I will [D] come to [C] you my [G] love,
To [C] ease your [G] troubled [D] mind; [D7]
If [G] you will [D] come to [C] me my [G] love,
We'll [C] leave the [D7] blues be-[G]-hind.
[G] I know what [D] you've been [C] going [G] through,
I've [C] had my [G] share of [D] pain. [D7]
Too [G] many [D] times I've [C] wondered [G] how my [C] heart could [D7] stand the [G] strain.
But [G] I will [D] come to [C] you my [G] love,
To [C] soothe your [G] cares a-[D]-way; [D7]
[G] You will [D] come to [C] me my [G] love,
We'll [C] start a [D7] brand new [G] day.
[G][D][C][G] [C][G][D][D7] [G][D][C][G] [C][D7][G]/
[G] I'm not [D] making [C] promi-[G]-ses of [C] fairy [G] tale ro-[D]-mance, [D7]
But [G] you might [D] find just [C] what you [G] need, if [C] you'll give [D7] me a [G] chance.
[G] I will [D] come to [C] you my [G] love,
We'll [C] say good-[G]-bye to [D] fear; [D7]
[G] You will [D] come to [C] me my [G] love,
The [C] clouds will [D7] start to [G] clear.
The [G] human [D] heart has [C] hidden [G] depths, the [C] poets [G] tell us [D] so; [D7]
Some-[G]-times it [D] takes a [C] leap of [G] faith to [C] get to where you [D7] need to [G] go.
[G] I will [D] come to [C] you my [G] love,
And [C] take your [G] hand in [D] mine; [D7]
[G] You will [D] come to [C] me my [G] love,
We'll [C] see our [D7] future [G] shine.

I was playing these chords in a finger-picking style, and it seemed to me that this music would suit an ancient ballad played
by a medieval troubadour, possibly on a lute. So that's the kind of song I wrote.
