DEEP IN THE BLUES

[G] I started out in my younger days with [D] big ambitions and dreams.
[C] I worked all over, from town to town, tried my [G] hand at all kinds of schemes.
But I [G] had too many unlucky breaks, and I [D] guess I made a few mistakes,
And it [C] all came apart at the [G] seams.

I'm [D] lucky I've got nothing [C] left I can lose;

[G] Some folks are born with a silver spoon, they [D] get all that they desire.
They can [C] just sit back with a smile on their face and [G] watch their fortune grow higher.
I can [G] tell you it's not that way for me, 'cause the [D] only thing I get to see
Is [C] all my good intentions mis-[G]-fire.

[G] I've heard it said from time to time that [D] love makes the world go around,
I can [C] only say from my point of view, that [G] that's not quite what I've found.
